The position of Systems Engineer IIis within our Toxicology Laboratories located in Santa Rosa, CA.
As a Systems Engineer II, you'll work on the systems verification function to bring experience to testing Abbott’s Toxicology capital equipment systems and analytical methods. This individual will assist in designing, implementing, and executing our sample preparation methodology on automated platforms. This motivated and resourceful individual will have input into the day-to-day impact of quality incidents, workflow, and systems associated with toxicology capital equipment and accessories. Responsibilities include test design, test data analysis, test execution, defect issue resolution, debugging code, and configuring test systems
What You’ll Work On
- Work independently and as a team member to plan, write, and execute test cases according to Abbott practices and standard procedures.
- Create/update data analysis, robotics, and test scripts including execution.
- Support implementation, enhancements, and modifications to test automation framework, automation tools, scripts, and code.
- Write, update, or execute test design cases, as well as procedures, and report results.
- Perform dry runs and formal test activities as required.
- Set up and configure test equipment.
- Record and close quality incidences found during production.
- Troubleshoot and correct automation platform errors.
- Provide as-needed and routine maintenance and calibration.
- Provide test perspective to R&D’s ongoing method development: requirements, method and test designs defect reviews, and user workflows.
- Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed and suggest improvements or changes.
- Develop appropriate automation platform maintenance procedures.
- Contribute to the development of solutions that have significant improvements in processes and test development.
- Develop continuing proficiency in the field of automation systems test engineering.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science (chemistry, biochemistry, biology) or engineering (e.g. mechanical, electrical).
- Four years of experience in engineering/scientific related field.
- Two years experience programming Hamilton Venus Software (Nimbus/STAR/STARLET platforms)
Preferred Qualification
- FDA or CLIA-regulated industry experience
- Two years of experience with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry systems

The base pay for this position is $83,600.00 – $167,200.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
