The Opportunity

As a Senior Electrical / Embedded Systems Engineer on the Vascular R&D team, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of next-generation intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) systems.

This role is highly hands-on and systems-focused, working at the intersection of embedded electronics, firmware, automation, and experimental test systems. You will collaborate closely with electrical, software, mechanical, and systems engineers, as well as clinical, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory partners, to develop innovative devices and advanced characterization methods that ensure efficacy, safety, and manufacturability.

This position works out of our St. Paul, MN location.

What You’ll Work On

  • Contribute to the design and development of intravascular lithotripsy equipment and catheter systems.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, develop prototypes, and plan and execute experiments.
  • Design, build, and iterate on custom laboratory and automated test systems, including embedded controllers, motion or actuation elements, and data acquisition.
  • Develop and debug embedded firmware and supporting software for test and characterization platforms.
  • Participate in circuit board design, bring‑up, modification, and debug, working collaboratively with other electrical engineers as needed.
  • Collect, review, and interpret experimental and prototype performance data; prepare technical summaries and present findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to design history file (DHF) documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant engineering experience, with significant hands‑on technical contribution.
  • Experience working with embedded systems, firmware, or hardware‑software integrated systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with an experimental, systems‑level mindset.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work productively in a fast‑paced, collaborative R&D environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded firmware development in C/C++ (preferably on ARM‑based microcontrollers).
  • Exposure to circuit board design, review, bring‑up, or debug; proficiency with Altium Designer is a plus but not required.
  • Experience developing or supporting automated test systems, robotics, motion control, or instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with lab and development tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, in‑circuit debuggers, and source control (e.g., git).
  • Strong general engineering fundamentals and hands‑on laboratory skills.
  • Medical device development experience, including exposure to design controls and risk management, is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Python or similar tools for data handling or test automation.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.



The base pay for this position is $78,000.00 – $156,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
