The Opportunity
This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA location in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
This role is responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing manufacturing and business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce the work-in-process, improve fill-rates, and improve process flow and efficiency. These actions will occur across multiple facets of Abbott's organization including: manufacturing, design, supplier development, documentation, and Abbott's suppliers. Projects will incorporate lean manufacturing, theory of constraints, quick response manufacturing, Just-In-Time, Methods-Time Measurement, or a variety of other systems improvement philosophies. The employee will be required to create strong relationships with team members internal and external to Abbott to ensure project success.
What You’ll Work On
Analyzes, creates and implements manufacturing and/or business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce work in process and improve fill rates.
Completes capacity analyzes internally and/or at suppliers for headcount, equipment and space requirements using simulation software or other effective tools.
Designs, implements and maintains effective metrics with internal customers or suppliers to ensure unbridled supply is achieved.
Participates as a core member in cross-functional teams to quickly troubleshoot and eliminate product supply issues internally or at suppliers.
Makes recommendations to design teams, which drive higher yielding, lower cost, more manufacturable products.
May use financial analyses tool and recommend alternative courses of action.
Convinces internal customer or suppliers to make fundamental changes to their manufacturing and/or business processes so that unbridled supply can be achieved.
Develops and coordinates ergonomic projects.
Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.
Participates in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel.
May lead a project team.
Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects.
Influences middle management on technical or business solutions.
May interact with vendors.
Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval.
Initiates or maintains work schedule.
Establishes priorities of work assignments.
Exercises judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.
Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Engineering discipline
6 years related work experience

The base pay for this position is $90,000.00 – $180,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
