The Opportunity

The IT Manager is an Abbott IT resource responsible to manage, support and enforce BTS Medical Devices IT compliance domains, which include Quality System Processes, Software Applications, Internal and External Audits, and Metrics and Reporting. 

The IT Manager provides guidance in the analysis, design, and execution of IT Compliance. Identifies, proposes, initiates, and leads significant improvement programs related to IT Compliance policy, processes, and procedures.  Leads the IT Compliance activities and provides oversight on a project or multiple initiatives to include Software Validation, CAPAs, and Cybersecurity. This role will be a champion of quality and will help to ensure IT compliance to the quality systems within Medical Devices IT. 

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as an IT Compliance source of information to the business for the IT Quality System domains, IT Quality System processes, and the regulatory environment.

  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with all levels in the Abbott IT organization and the Medical Devices division business system and process owners and stakeholders.

  • Adhere to established policies and procedures and perform work using standard methodologies, processes and tools to ensure IT Compliance.

  • Execute on and complete tasks associated with IT Quality System processes such as collecting and compiling metrics and tracking IT Audit findings for the division.

  • Execute on and complete tasks associated with strategic projects for the division.

  • Support projects across the division for the software development lifecycles for quality impacting applications.

  • Provide timely status updates to management and escalate issues appropriately.

  • Have an evolving understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities linked to the regulatory and legal environment. 

  • Have an evolving ability to recognize gaps in project documentation and policies and procedures related to the IT Quality Processes.

  • Work with internal organizations such as BTS Quality and Internal Audit or business units on compliance related matters.

  • Provide support to IT functional areas on IT compliance policy, process, and procedure.

  • Collaborate effectively with internal IT departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts through consistent IT Compliance practices. 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Information Systems or Business Administration or BA/BS in another discipline with equivalent experience

  • 2-4 years experience in a quality systems environment, or equivalent combined work experience.

  • Excellent analytical, judgment and consultative capabilities and communication skills and the ability to work with both IT management and staff.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation

  • Ability to quickly assimilate knowledge of processes, frameworks, and technologies

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment

  • Strong time management, organizational and priority setting skills

  • Strong interpersonal/verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of software systems including enterprise systems, databases, infrastructure, networks, and other technical domains

  • Familiar with multiple software development models

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

  • Ability to adapt readily to change in routine and to work across multiple areas

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across organizational levels

  • Advanced personal computer skills including email, word processing, and spreadsheets

  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural and networking skills

  • Strong organizational skills including program/project governance

  • Knowledgeable about current and possible future IT trends and technology and software regulatory requirements

  • Provides information people need to do their jobs effectively and to make best possible decisions.

The base pay for this position is $80,700.00 – $161,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
