The Opportunity
The Lab Technician II works in Temecula, CA in the Vascular Division.
Supports laboratory customers and technical support staff by offering laboratory testing and services in all laboratory areas: metallurgical, environmental, chemical, scanning electron microscopy, reliability engineering and microbiological. The Digital Solutions organization reports in the Medical Devices group and is responsible for leveraging digitally enabled technology to increase patient access to care and provide our customers with best-in-class experiences that support our collective mission to improve patient outcomes.
Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.
What You’ll Work On
- Provide routine laboratory tests in the metallurgical/mechanical, chemical, scanning electron microscopy, reliability engineering and microbiological areas, in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
- Interprets test results and examines for unusual characteristics.
- Troubleshoots procedures that may have been compromised, thus determining the potential cause of unexpected results of routine tests.
- Communicates with customers and appropriate technical staff regarding testing schedule information, results, or unanticipated discoveries.
- Writes procedures, conducts validations, and writes technical reports.
- Coordinates, schedules, and budgets for procurement of outside testing: environmental, mechanical, etc.
- Schedules purchase of laboratory supplies.
- Analyzes, reviews, and documents the status of lab records for archiving.
- Administers the flow of test requests, from logging in through filing and archiving.
Plans, organizes, and prioritizes own daily work routine to meet established schedule. - Solves a variety of problems of limited to moderate scope and complexity requiring basic interpretation of defined procedures and practices.
Maintains confidentiality in handling sensitive information or documents. - Applies broad knowledge of general technical concepts and practices and a general understanding of product or systems fundamentals.
- Utilizes increased knowledge of numerical and statistical data and computer software programs to resolve non-routine/moderately complex problems.
- Will perform this job in a quality system environment.
- Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
- Performs non-routine to moderately complex technical assignments using standard methods and sequences.
- Performs set-up, testing, repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of all area-specific equipment, materials, systems, and/or product.
- Makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.
- Assignments require broad judgment in troubleshooting proven processes as well as the ability to suggest alternatives.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. diploma or equivalent plus 2-5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination. Two-year degree or some college credits preferred.

The base pay for this position is $17.05 – $34.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
